How can children help
on Earth Day?
Earth Day is April 22. What can you do with your children during April to help the envir-onment? Plant a flower or tree, go for a walk with a garbage bag and gloves, fill a bird feeder, plant a butterfly bush to attract butterflies, build a birdhouse, and reduce your amount of garbage. www.EarthDay.ca
National Puddle Day is April 27
National Puddle Day is in memory of Matthew Chatelain, who was in the back seat of a car that was hit by a bus on Upper James Street in 2010. It is a day to honour those children whose lives are cut short and this year support a local charity, Bereaved Families of Ontario-Hamilton/Burlington, the only local resource whose primary mandate is to provide grief support to families who have experienced the death of a child of any age.
The main event is on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a barbecue, puddle jumping, and other activities in the park behind the Library, 3027 Homestead Drive in Mount Hope. Schools can participate the week of April 22 by wearing rubber boots to school and donating $1. Please make cheques payable to Bereaved Families of Ontario - Hamilton/Burlington.
